X-Men Legends[]

Though Angel makes no appearance in this title, he is references in name in a few instances, such as in the Trivia Quiz game.

Curiously, his name appears in the list of game credits within the Instruction Manual as having a speaking role. The reason behind this is because according to in-game data, Angel was originally planned to be a playable character but was scrapped for unclear reasons. A handful of unused voice files list his name, an example being the Danger Room computer calling out the name ANGEL. It is unknown if there is any leftover model data for Angel.[1]

X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse[]

Angel makes his first official appearance in X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse, where he is assisting the members of the X-Men by performing off-screen scouting operations in order to uncover key information the X-Men can use to take down Apocalypse and his forces. Angel always appears somewhere in the central Hub area, and is stationed at the current base for the first three Acts.

For Acts 2 and 3, it is mandatory to speak to him to obtain vital information necessary to proceed further into the story missions. In Act 1, he obtains information about the Cerci Tunnels, but the heroes can choose to simply continue with the mission, instead of returning to The Sanctuary. If so, Angel will contact the heroes when they reach the third area of the Cerci Tunnels past the Dead Zone, to inform them further information about the security door leading into the Genosha Seawall. During Act 3, it is revealed that Angel has been gathering some top secret information on Apocalypse thanks to the former's dealings with Sebastian Shaw. At this time, the current party members grow concern over Angel's safety, to which Angel appears disturbed by as he states "We all are" taking risks.

Starting with Act 4, the X-Men's fears come true as Angel is somehow captured by Apocalypse. In the opening cutscene of Act 4, it is revealed that after the capture of Angel, Mr. Sinister had begun experimenting on him, trasforming Angel into an evil variant of his heroic self known as Archangel, who now serves under Apocalypse's orders. At the X-Mansion, the X-Men grow concern of Angel's safety. Because of his capture, he no longer appears in any of the hub bases should the team teleport back to any of the previously used home base facilities.

Angel, as Archangel, is fought at the end of Act 4, at the top of Apocalypse's Tower. If Jean Grey is in the current party when the team first arrives at the Tower Apex, there will be special dialogue between Jean Grey and Archangel, where the former tries to clear the latter's mind from Mr. Sinister's brainwashing. She eventually fails, as Archangel shows he is completely void of all heroic emotion in him. After his dialogue, the battle begins and after an intense battle, the heroes eventually manage to defeat Archangel and continue to chase down Apocalypse in Egypt.

Angel is never seen again throughout the rest of the adventure, with only some of the X-Men at the Teleport Chamber, such as Professor Xavier, stating that Angel is being taken care of and resting, trying to recover from his brainwashing done to him. It is stated that in terms of physical appearance, Angel may never look like his former self again.

Trivia[]
